The Ancient Runes
The Elder Futhark is thought to be the oldest version of the runic alphabet, and was used in the parts of Europe which were home to Germanic peoples, including Scandinavia. It contains 24 runes, that are divided into three Aettir or groups of eight.
Runes are an ancient Germanic alphabet, which are used for writing, divination and magick. Runes have been a divination tool throught the British Isles, Europe, and Scandinavia since about 100 B.C.E. Ancient Runic inscriptions have even been discovered across the Atlantic, in North America. Thus, supporting the theories that the Vikings arrived in the Americas long before Columbus.
Runic divination or "rune casting" is not considered by many to be a form of "fortunetelling". the reason for this is our futures are forever changing by the decisions we make. The Runes give us a means of analyzing the course of your life's path, and the consequences/ outcome of traveling that path. Giving you the opportunity of changing your path, if you choose to.
We know that runes have been used for divination and magic, and writing since ancient times. The word Rune, actually means secret, mystery, or whispering. Each rune has esoteric meanings and properties associated with it, beyond it's mundane meaning, and phonetic value. Each translates into a word or a phrase signifying concepts important to the ancient people that used them, representing the forces of nature and of the mind. Each rune also has it's own story attached to it, and a relationship to a Norse God, Odin.

Our Handcrafted Rune Sets also include the blank rune, and come with a free pouch. We can add the finish to your rune set, or we can leave them unfinished so you can finish them yourself. Just let us know when you fill in the order form. Please note that the sizes and look will vary with each set, as these Runes are crafted by hand, making them unique. We have found that the Runes are best made from fruit tree wood; however, not everyone shares this belief, so we have added a variety of wood choices for our customers. Please allow 7-14 days from receipt of payment to delivery.
